Feeding America Visits Produce Pantry

posted 3/27/24 -- Representatives from Feeding America visited the LCCAA Produce Pantry recently to learn more about how they are using the Order Ahead online system.

“They came from all over the country to tour and visit pantry programs just checking in to see if they can help in any way,” said Center Manager Deirdre Paynter.

LCCAA is piloting the use of Order Ahead in Lorain County through its partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio. Feeding America representatives Kelly Fraser, Cheyanne Johnson and Jennifer Sheda.

The Produce Pantry is open to any resident of Lorain County living at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Orders are taken online using the Order Ahead system and appointments are critical for this service.

Ordering opens on Monday at 8 a.m. and closes at 11 p.m. Sunday for appointments on the following Wednesdays and Thursdays. Ordering is now open for appointments on April 10 and 11.

LCCAA operates the Produce Center under a partnership with the Second Harvest Foodbank of Northwest Ohio. The pantry is staffed by youth workers in partnership with Ohio Means Jobs Lorain County. Currently, pre-packed food boxes are provided with choice ordering expected later this year.
