Another Staff Member Earns CDA

posted 4/11/24 -- Hortensia Agosto’s passion for teaching has brought her many blessings, she said.

Agosto, a family services assistant at Griswold Head Start, was among the several staff members to recently earn a Childhood Development Associate credential. The credential is considered foundational for those in the early childhood education profession. Like several of her colleagues, Agosto completed the coursework and classroom observations through the ProSolutions Training program.

“I’ve always advocated for my children as they are the most vulnerable,” Agosto said. “It is my job and responsibility to advocate for them, teach them and be able to plant the seed of love in them.”

Prior to joining the LCCAA Head Start staff seven years ago, Agosto worked at Southview High School for 14 years. Seeing children grow and thrive brings her a joyful reward.

“I was born to be of service to others and I do it with love in my heart,” she added.
